Circle of Art 2009

I am once again participating in Circle of Art. Its an online auction for art and all proceeds benefit Food Gatherers which is a local charity that feeds those in need in our area.

From the website:
"2009 marks the fifth Circle of Art benefit for Food Gatherers. The Circle of Art is a party, a project and a group effort by artists and art lovers to help fight hunger where we live. Simply stated, a bunch of artist donate small works of art, Saline Picture Frame Co. mats them all and hosts a party, lots of people come to the party and bid on the art and then Food Gatherers uses the money raised to feed hungry people."

My friend Val Mann had the idea for Circle of Art and it has been going strong since 2005! The auction is ongoing until Sunday, May 17th when you can come in and see the art, meet artists and art lovers and raise money to help Food Gatherers fight hunger! 100% of the proceeds goes to Food Gatherers.

So bid on something of mine...or anything...its for a great cause!

Morelle pt.deux

Here are my final images for Morelle!
Its been a difficult experience only because of my being ill, but it was still so much fun and the bags are so beautiful.  You should visit her Etsy store and see what I am talking about {}.  They are gor.geous!

The track is only about 5 minutes from my house.  There used to be another old train car there, but the city moved it. At least they left the one for me :)

We also tried shooting at the Dexter train depot, but it just didn't have the right feel to it. I love the buildings there, though, and will certainly go back and do some shooting soon.
Excuse my pose:

I really wanted to shoot in this hall of UofM alumni portraits, but it was very dark, and one of the lamps wouldn't work and too many people were passing by. All the images are either blurry or have flash from my camera....oh well.

Yesterday was the most beautiful day!  75 degrees and sunny.  After a long, miserable winter, I desperately needed it!  I went out with my sweetie pie and took more shots for Morelle .  In between shooting I couldn't help but take pictures of spring flowers.
I'll post the outtakes from the Morelle shoot sometime this week.  In the meantime, here are some lovely blossoms to cheer you up!

Another image from my collaboration with the amazingly talented art and ghosts.

I've spent the last 2 weekends scouting for new photography locations for some upcoming projects. I think I've lived here too long to really appreciate it anymore. There are gorgeous buildings if you look hard enough, but although there are tons of parks, there are few gardens and that simply makes me sad. If anyone knows of some formal gardens in Michigan or Ohio, email me and let me know!

happy easter :)

About a year ago, I did a collaboration with the amazingly talented art and ghosts.

I sent her 4 images and she worked her magic on them. This is one of my favorites of them and though I am saving them for a certain project Im working on, in the spirit of easter, I thought I'd let one out ;)

diary of a mod housewife

I've wanted to do a blog that has nothing, or little, to do with my photography for awhile now and I'm thrilled to say the day has arrived!
My new blog, diary of a mod housewife is finally up.
It's still a baby and I have a lot to learn, but I'm really excited about this new adventure.
Diary of a Mod Housewife is a lifestyle blog about the modern housewife and will feature fashion, decorating, recipes, art and interviews all done with a bit of a wink.

Speaking of interviews, I am planning on adding them to this blog. I am planning a weekly flickr FSPASG (female self portrait artist support group) interview. Every Friday a fabulous fspasg photographer will answer some questions and show off some of her work.
Exciting stuff!
